Sara Tumino and Hayden Vale triumphed at The Block 2018 auction after fetching $3,020,000 for their apartment and subsequently raking in $545,000 profit.
The controversial couple were repeatedly slammed by the judges and at one point received the lowest score three weeks in a row and fans questioned how they were able to take out the top spot in Sunday's finale.
In view of this, the outspoken brunette has revealed the real reason the duo were crowned The Block winners in an interview with  on Tuesday.

'We may not have won the most Domain points - we came equal fourth with Courtney and Hans - and we only won one room and came last in a lot of rooms, but at the same time, our flow through our apartment felt like someone needed to belong there,' Sara explained.

Sara revealed after the judging had concluded the duo were allowed to implement the feedback they received and subsequently make further tweaks and changes to their Gatwick apartment.
'We kept getting the bones right every single week, it was just more about the styling.

We had time to go back and re-style and fix things,' she said.

'Our flow through our apartment felt like someone needed to belong there': The outspoken brunette revealed the real reason the duo were crowned the winners of the hit Channel Nine renovation series in an interview with 9Honey Homes on Tuesday.

Winning combination: In sum, Sara believes the apartment's flow, space and detailing teamed with two buyers who 'felt an emotion connection' to the dwelling pushed them over the line.

'In such a bad market, people are looking for perfect-basements space and more bang for their buck. They want a good amount of square metres for a good price, and that's why I think the three apartments in The Gatwick did so well,' she explained.
In sum, Sara believes the apartment's 'flow, space and detailing' teamed with two buyers who 'felt an emotion connection' to the dwelling - ultimately pushed them over the line.

However, fans of the long-running renovation series were left unhappy after the series resident 'villains' took out the top spot in the finale. 
Viewers took to  to share their dismay at 'nasty' people winning over teams some fans deemed more deserving.
'Can't commit to watching reality TV shows where the people you dislike end up winning and the nice people finish last,' one user wrote.
The social media user said if there is a 'nasty' couple next year he won't be tuning in to The Block.
Meanwhile, another said: 'For the first time, I was delighted the IQ3 recording cut out before the end because I could not abide those a**e hats being all winning and stuff.'

However, their apartment at The Gatwick fetched $3,020,000 - the highest price at auction.
The parents walked away from the show with a $545,000 profit, landing them in the top spot.
 They also claimed the grand prize of an additional $100,000 - netting them a total of $645,000.
